After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. Matthew 2:9-11The Wise Men followed the Star – the Star with a Mission. May we be filled with the wisdom and follow the Star that led the men across many miles to the manger of the Baby Jesus, Son of God.We each have a God-Mission in life, if only to light the way to Jesus for those who watch our lives. The man who lives with Jesus in his heart, preaches a daily message of hope, love, joy and peace. It is the song we sing. The Wise Men brought gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. Costly gifts. The gifts that come with a huge price tag. Even as the life we live for our God costs in sacrifice. The gifts Jesus gives us are priceless – a life of prayer – brings us Eternal Life through the sacrifice he made on the cross. No other way is the gift of Eternal Life ours.Just as the Wise Men traveled so long ago, do the wise men around us. They shine like the stars forever and ever — like the brightness of the heavens. They shall lead many to righteousness.Dear Lord God, May this gift be ours. May we be bright lights and lead many to righteousness, we pray for wisdom. There is no greater joy or need that I have. Just to be his, is my prayer. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
