January 12, 2017 – Romans 3:21-22

But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago. We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. Romans 3:21-22What does it take to be made right?  What do we want more than anything?  The joy of hearing the words – “You are right!”  We want praise, and people  looking up to us.  The only way to do this is in our own power is through pretending to be what we are not.   We are usually found out.  We find ourselves caught in the net of competition, to be smarter, richer, more beautiful/handsome than anyone else.  Competition to be the best is like being caught in a web that holds us captive. We forget reality of God who gives us true freedom from the penalty through our humility and believing. It isn’t what others think, but what God says about us that counts.  And it counts for an eternity.  It counts forever piled on top of a forever plus an eternity.Only through Jesus Christ we are free to worship Him. Our sins are paid for by his death and resurrection. For his unfailing love toward those who fear him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth.  He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.  Psalm 103:11-12

For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. Romans 3:23-24
