December 20, 2016 – John 1:14

So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son. John 1:14Who is this Jesus, whose birthday we celebrate during the season of Christmas?  These two short verses tell us. “For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16.This is God’s view, a beloved and only son, he is willing to send to the world.  In the beginning the Word already was with God.  God created everything through Him, and he brings light to everyone. This is Jesus.  John 1:1-4.Even before Jesus and John were born, John knew his purpose in life.  (Luke 1:41). The prophet Isaiah was speaking about John when he said, “He is a voice shouting in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord’s coming! Clear the road for him!” Matthew 3:3.Christmas is about giving. God gave, Jesus gave. They gave us a gift that we cannot even imagine – eternal life. Then there were many others who were changed and gave their hearts and lives to God, and this continues to this day. As you open a gift this year, remember that first gift of love that we celebrate with each gift we are given. The greatest gift God has given us is His Love that changes our lives.  When we give a gift in the name of Jesus, we will see love grow.  We don’t have to wait for December to give our love!John testified about him when he shouted to the crowds, “This is the one I was talking about when I said, ‘Someone is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me.” John 1:15
