November 1, 2016 – Genesis 6:8-9

genesis6-8-9But Noah found favor with the Lord. This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, the only blameless person living on earth at the time, and he walked in close fellowship with God. Genesis 6:8-9Have you ever searched the scriptures for the word, favor? Have you ever pondered the meaning of the word? Noah was righteous and blameless.  Mary, the mother of Jesus, found favor with God. David found favor with the Lord. God’s favor rests on those who are blameless and believe Him like Noah. When we believe, God leads us to do the impossible to His Glory. Have you seen the model of the first ark built to God’s specifications written in Genesis 6:14:16. 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high boat made of cypress wood and water proofed with tar. Did Noah run down to the local lumber yard for supplies? No!Noah did everything exactly as God had commanded him. (Genesis 6:22). He believed and had faith in God and didn’t say, “I can’t!”  How old was Noah when the waters came? 600 years. He didn’t sit in a rocking chair and tell his sons what to do – Noah built a boat. Then God, the first weather forecaster, said in seven days, I will make rains pour down on the earth!   Now is the time to ask ourselves, do we believe God? Will we do what God asks? Will we become discouraged and throw down our tools when things don’t go right?Jesus is coming back, no one knows when…except God. Will we be found with favor doing what God asks – to believe, love, and follow Him? Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. I Corinthians 13:7Seven days from now I will make the rains pour down on the earth. And it will rain for forty days and forty nights, until I have wiped from the earth all the living things I have created.” So Noah did everything as the Lord commanded him. Noah was 600 years old when the flood covered the earth. Genesis 7:4-6
