Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Philippians 4:6-8“Think about beautiful things….” intoned Mom when I couldn’t sleep. Making the list in my mind of things I thought were beautiful taxed my brain. In trying to remember, I fell asleep. The mind is a powerful thing, it is the rudder of our lives. It directs our paths. God created our mind to be a blessing as we think of Him. It leads us into all manner of temptations when we take our minds off of our Lord God.In visiting with my husband this morning, I realize that his mind is slipping away quickly. This morning he does not remember me or his family. When I say a name, he guesses who that may be. But this one thing I know, when I read God’s Word to him, or one of my journal-snippets or pray with him, my husband remembers Lord Jehovah. His mind may forget earthly things, but spiritual things are ever with him. Praise the Lord!Dear Lord, Help us to remember you and be faithful in our minds, our hearts and souls. Loving you is the first and greatest commandment. Please give us all the strength to overcome whatever befalls us, and hold on to the greatest gift of all — Jesus Christ — remembering His great sacrifice. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
