August 4, 2016 – Philippians 4:8

Philippians4-7Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7Can’t sleep, afraid people will find out who you really are?  Wish you could take back angry words or actions?  Wanting peace in your life, and all you have now is worry and hiding from others? We all have those thoughts.  The beginning of Proverbs 23:7 says –For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.    A sixth grade teacher I had years ago told us that the way we are now is how we will be when we grow up.  I didn’t like what I was then – how could I change? These verses tell us how we can be who we want to be, so as God looks on our hearts, He will be pleased.  He already knows our hearts and sent Jesus to show us the pathway to God.When we belong to Jesus, we will find His peace that passes understanding.  Surrendering our hearts to Jesus and Jesus alone, begins the journey of Peace in this life.Just as we did to eat to grow in this world, we need food to keep peace in our hearts.  Here is how — Fix your mind!  Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. We can’t always control the voices of anger around us, but we can control what we watch or see.  Jesus and the Holy Spirit are with you now and know you.  You know what is true and full of honor.  You know what is right and pure.  Think like Jesus and you will have peace.  Fix your thoughts, your mind and your heart on the One Who loves you!!!

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Philippians 4:8
