June 14, 2016 – Hebrews 1:4
This shows that the Son is far greater than the angels, just as the name God gave him is greater than their names. Hebrews 1:4My Mom loved angels, and told me about the painting of an angel guarding the two small children crossing a bridge that hung in her bedroom when she was a child. I found the painting during Mom’s last illness and hung it in her bedroom. She loved humming birds and angels.She did a study of angels in the Bible. She learned that angels are created by God, just as we are. She learned that angels are God’s messengers and servants of God and never to be worshiped. (Colossians 2:18) Although man has painted angels to be dainty creatures who fly around and protect us, In reality, they do as God commands. Sometimes they appear as fierce warriors. In Psalm 78:49, God sent destroying angels against the Egyptians…He loosed on them his fierce anger—all his fury, rage, and hostility. He dispatched against them a band of destroying angels. No video game could ever begin to match what is in God’s power told about in God’s Word.God spoke to angels as we would to a servant, but to Jesus, He said, “You are my son, Today I have become your Father.” A father/son relationship of love and honor and respect is to be treasured. It is worth more than fine gold. But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God. John 1:12-13. Being a child of God through Jesus, means many things, and here are the promises: God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God. God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God. God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. Matthew 5:8-10For God never said to any angel what he said to Jesus: “You are my Son. Today I have become your Father.” God also said, “I will be his Father, and he will be my Son.” Hebrews 1:5
