May 19, 2016 – 2 Peter 1:16

We told you about the power of our Lord Jesus Christ. We told you about his coming. The things we told you were not just clever stories that people invented. No, we saw the greatness of Jesus with our own eyes.  2 Peter 1:16These are the words of Simon Peter, one of the apostles of Christ, about Jesus, as he walked with Him.  Impetuous Peter who loves Jesus, yet denied Him when He was arrested.Peter was at the baptism of Jesus by John in the Jordan River.  Afterward, the Heavens opened and a voice was heard as a dove flew down and sat on the head of Jesus.  This is my beloved Son.Peter wrote these words you are reading. After Peter saw Jesus arrested in the garden where he cut off the ear of a soldier to get even.  Peter saw Jesus, silent, being tried and crucified.  Peter saw Jesus buried in a tomb, and saw Him alive again on the third day.  Peter saw Jesus go to God in Heaven, riding a cloud.Peter is a strong witness for Jesus.  At noon on the day Jesus was crucified, the sky grew dark.  When Jesus drew his last breath, an earthquake shook the earth.  God always uses his creations to send messages to us.  Peter heard, saw and walked with Jesus.  We can, too.  Peter knew Jesus.  We can know Jesus even if we cannot see Him, by reading the words in the Bible.  The Words of God.  We can walk with Jesus when we listen and obey His Words.  He wants us to follow Him…Why?  He loves you and He loves me.You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls.  I Peter 1:8-9Jesus heard the voice of the great and glorious God. That was when he received honor and glory from God the Father.
