April 5, 2016 – Romans 5:9-11
And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God. Romans 5:9-11After John baptized Jesus when a dove descended from Heaven and a voice was heard saying,“This is my beloved loved Son, who brings me great joy.” Luke 3:17.A day later, two of John’s disciples came to Jesus to ask where he was staying. His reply was, “Come and see…” After they spent time with him that evening, Andrew sent word to his brother, Simon, “We have found the Messiah! (Christ)”During the time Andrew was with Jesus, he knew. A sixth grade student of mine asked, Where did God come from? No one had ever asked me this question before and God led me to the answer…”The Bible begins…In the beginning God…” Almost 40 years later I read again John 1:1-5. In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it. Then in John 8:12 –Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” What kind of words do you speak? Words to bring life to others? Reading and knowing God’s Word brings joy and peace. Or do you claim the right to use words to hurt and destroy others. Those who are rescued, those who follow the Light of the World, will be at peace in their hearts and live with joy. With their words, the godless destroy their friends, but knowledge will rescue the righteous. The godly are rescued from trouble, and it falls on the wicked instead. Proverbs 11:8-9
