February 25, 2016 – 1 Peter 3:8
So all of you should live together in peace. Try to understand each other. Love each other like brothers and sisters. Be kind and humble. I Peter 3:8You should live together in peace. Videos of newborn twins show the close relationship they enjoyed before they were born. When our son, a fraternal twin, grew up, he confided in me in his teens. His twin died at birth and he said, “I have always felt that part of me is missing.”In the same way, when we do not live in peace or love each other, we feel that something in our life is missing. Being kind and loving is a part of who Jesus is. When we follow the words of Jesus…we feel complete. When we do not love and live in peace, we are not whole. Part of us is missing. To be complete and have a true life with good days, never let a lie come out of your mouth. And avoid hurting others with your words. We so want to be thought good, that lies slip out easily. Being kind to others and may be easy to try to muster, but being humble is more difficult to fake. Humility is soul-deep and just is. It is the ability to say, “I am wrong, I am sorry….” and mean it. It is, “I’m trying to learn.” That is being teachable. No one knows everything. Only God. David asks a question in Psalm 15:1 –Who may worship in your sanctuary, Lord? Who may enter your presence on your holy hill?David answered the question in the next two verses….Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right, speaking the truth from sincere hearts. Those who refuse to gossip or harm their neighbors or speak evil of their friends.
