November 3, 2015 – Jonah 1:17
Now the Lord had arranged for a great fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was inside the fish for three days and three nights. Jonah 1:17Can you see Jonah, jumping into the stormy sea, thinking he is doomed. And God saves him. He didn’t understand what the big fish was doing by him. He expected drowning, not being chomped on by a big fish. After all, Jonah tried to run away from God and what God wanted him to do.Sometimes as we grow up, we can’t see what God is doing, but He has plans we know nothing about. Imagine Jonah’s surprise when he realized he was inside the big fish and still alive and not chomped on. What was the first thing he did?He prayed. He called to God and told him about the trouble he was in. Just as Jonah was surprised — that God answered his prayer. We can be sure He will answer our prayers — but we have to cry out to the Lord. He wants us to choose Him to solve our troubles. It all depends on Who you know. If you talk to the Lord God everyday, and not try to run away from Him, He will always be with you… He will rescue you and love you. Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from inside the fish. He said, “I cried out to the Lord in my great trouble, and he answered me. I called to you from the land of the dead, and Lord, you heard me! You threw me into the ocean depths, and I sank down to the heart of the sea. The mighty waters engulfed me; I was buried beneath your wild and stormy waves.” Jonah 2:1-3
