John8-12Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” John 8:12Darkness, eery darkness with its shadows holds fear for a child and even for a grown up person.  The invention of night lights are the best, to be able to not stumble in the dark or find my way in a dark house. Before electric lights, a farm was the darkest place there is.  I can understand why my Mom was drawn to the window to see stars at night.  Her confidant became the Evening Star, the first star she could find in the darkened sky.  Shortly after my Dad died, Mom and I sat on the back porch stoop and watched the Evening Star appear.  It was as if through the death of Dad, that she became the little girl looking for the light. Our journey here on earth is to discern light from darkness, and follow the light — Jesus Christ — to the place where there is no need of moon or sun.  There is no evil, just glorious Light — God — will illuminate our forever-world, even as He illuminates our hearts here on earth.  No more darkness where evil hides to snare us.  Praise the Lord!I saw no temple in the city, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. And the city has no need of sun or moon, for the glory of God illuminates the city, and the Lamb is its light. The nations will walk in its light, and the kings of the world will enter the city in all their glory. Revelation 21:22-24
