For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows. But you, Timothy, are a man of God; so run from all these evil things.
Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have declared so well before many witnesses. I Timothy 6:10-12
What is of great lasting value in this world? Our minds can become focused on that which glitters and entertains the mind. We actively compete and rush forward to find that which is of little eternal value. We squander time and money for things rather than Christ-like characteristics that cannot be purchased.
We are to PURSUE, not wait for things to be handed to us, but pursue, chase after, look for….righteousness and Godly life. Add to that faith, love, perseverance and gentleness — and we wish to worship God with all our being. The One and Only God who wants only our adoration and our loyalty.
This morning my dear husband, suffering from LBD, did not recognize me or our family. Does that make us disappear? No. We still love him, care for him and pray for him. When we forget God, push Him away and succumb to the wiles of the evil one, He still loves us. He will forgive us. All we need to do is kneel in prayer and ask for forgiveness. He has called us to salvation and by His Grace gives us eternal comfort and hope.
He called you to salvation when we told you the Good News; now you can share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. With all these things in mind, dear brothers and sisters, stand firm and keep a strong grip on the teaching we passed on to you both in person and by letter. Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope. 2 Thessalonians 2:14-16
