October 4, 2022 Reflection on “Know That I Am the Lord!”

Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days He has spoken to us by his Son, whom He appointed the heir of all things, through whom also He created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of His nature, and He upholds the universe by the word of His power. After making purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name He has inherited is more excellent than theirs. Hebrews 1:1-4.

Know that the Lord, He is God! It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. Psalm 100:3.

How will we know that we know God? Oh, give thanks to the Lord; call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples! Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; tell of all His wondrous works! Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice! Psalm 105:1-3.

“I will make a covenant of peace with them. It shall be an everlasting covenant with them. And I will set them in their land and multiply them and will set my sanctuary in their midst forevermore. My dwelling place shall be with them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Then the nations will know that I am the Lord who sanctifies Israel, when my sanctuary is in their midst forevermore.” Ezekiel 37:26-28.

This is a country or a nation who realizes that Peace comes when they know He is the Lord. Individually, each one is transformed into their minds and hearts as they seek righteousness in their living.

When someone lives and reflects Jesus with the Fruit of the Spirit, we know Who is God. As we read this list of character traits, we can measure the way we speak to others and interact with them. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things, there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23.

This chapter ends with these words. If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another. Galatians 5:25-26.

How do we learn to practice the Fruit of the Spirit in our heart and life? What gives us the most joy, and we want to spend time pursuing? How we spend our time matters.

When I told of my ways, you answered me; teach me your statutes! Make me understand the way of your precepts, and I will meditate on your wondrous works. Psalm 119:26-27.

When we call upon Jesus, we become a new creation through Him. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to Himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:17-18.

Jesus came and taught and paid with His blood the sacrifice for our sins. God raised Him from the dead and He is coming again. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. Romans 8:5-6.

Each moment of each day we make choices… to set our minds either on death or life. “Therefore, choose life, that you and your offspring may live, loving the Lord your God, obeying His voice and holding fast to Him, for He is your life and length of days, that you may dwell in the land that the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.” Deuteronomy 30:19b-20.

The words of Jesus, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. You heard me say to you, ‘I am going away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. And now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take place you may believe.” John 14:27-29.

When the plagues came upon the Egyptians, God spoke to Moses, Say therefore to the people of Israel, ‘I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from slavery to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great acts of judgment. I will take you to be my people, and I will be your God, and you shall know that I am the Lord your God, who has brought you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.’ Exodus 6:6-7.

From the time of Moses to Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead, things happened that we shall know the Lord is. Then Jesus told them plainly, “Lazarus has died, and for your sake, I am glad that I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him.” John 11:14-15.

The Bible tells us of our Lord God, and Jesus Christ, that we might KNOW how to live, and see through the creation of the Heavens and the Earth to KNOW He is The LORD. When we see the stars in the night sky, we ponder His Greatness, and we know His steadfast Love. Then we look at the last chapter of the Bible we find this promise, “Surely I am coming soon.” Revelation 22:20. And we reply, “Come quickly, Lord Jesus!”
