February 9, 2017 – 1 John 3:1

See how very much our Father loves us,  for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him.  1 John 3:1From the time we are born, we long to be loved and wanted.  We do outrageous things to be noticed and appreciated.  We do not realize that we already belong to the One who created us.Amazing words…coming from a cloud as the Heaven’s opened.  Jesus came up out of the baptismal waters and God spoke -“This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”  Then again, Jesus took Peter, James, and John on the mountain, where Jesus’ face became like the sun and his clothes became white as light.  A cloud overshadowed them and they heard a voice from the cloud – “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.”  My Son and Beloved Son. God loves Jesus!!!We are promised when Jesus comes again, we will see Him as He really is and we will be like him.  If we get excited about a gift at Christmas, then this gift from God when Jesus comes, will delight us. It won’t break, rust, or change its mind — for His delight in us is our gift of ‘forever love’.Remembering each day He is coming, makes us want to live pure and holy every day.  When Jesus comes, He will say, This is my beloved friend, I am well pleased! Come with me!”Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is. And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure.  1 John 3:2-3
