November 10, 2016 – John 1:14
So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son. John 1:14This John the Baptist, knew Jesus before either of them were born. In Luke 1:40-42, Mary came to see John’s Mother. When she came into the house and said hello to Elizabeth. Elizabeth’s child leaped within her and she was filled with the Holy Spirit. John knew it was Jesus before He was born. Then Elizabeth knew Mary’s baby, waiting to be born, is a blessed gift from God.God chose John before he was born to witness to people about Jesus and that he was coming. Later John baptized Jesus and God’s voice spoke and said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am pleased. What kind of boys were Jesus and John as they grew up? Verse 14 tells us. Jesus is full of love and faithfulness. Wouldn’t you have wanted to hear someone describes you as being faithful to God and filled with love? When John testified about Jesus, shouting to the crowds, he said two things. Someone is coming after me who is far greater than I am. He existed long before me! John knew Jesus is God’s Son.Jesus gave us many gifts, the Holy Spirit – the representative of Jesus who lives within us and teaches us. Jesus gives Redemption – that means forgiveness of our sins. We accept God’s commandments and obey and God loves us when we love Jesus.“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” John 14:27. What greater gifts could we want? Peace of mind and heart, love, faithfulness and redemption from our sins?John testified about him when he shouted to the crowds, “This is the one I was talking about when I said, ‘Someone is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me.’” John 1:15
