September 8, 2016 – 2 Thessalonians 3:3-4

2thessalonians3-3-4But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one. And we are confident in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we commanded you. 2 Thessalonians 3:3-4The Lord God’s faithfulness goes beyond what we can see or know.  Yesterday I sang, How Great Thou Art, and watched my husband in his wheel chair, fifth year of dementia, sing the words with me.  Truly, how great You are, Lord God!  As I turned these verses into a prayer, I realized how far reaching God’s faithfulness is.  Faithfulness is beyond the world we live in, and yet He guards me, and you from the temptations of Satan every day.  Can our Lord God depend on me to stay within His Love?Another version makes verse 4 more clear to me, The Lord gives us confidence that you are doing what we told you and that you will continue to do it.  It is when we lose that trust in God, that Satan wins in the constant battle for our souls.  When we choose to live and walk in His footsteps, truly in harmony with His heart, we give the victory to Jesus.3 John 1:4 – It always gives me the greatest joy when I hear that my children are following the way of truth.   Following Jesus’ Way and Truth brings ultimate joy to the follower, and all those who love the follower – now and forever. The act of following is opposite of leading and is spelled h-u-m-i-l-i-t-y — not thinking more of ourselves.  In our culture we are taught being Number One is the highest glory to have.  But it doesn’t last long.  Following Jesus, Who is Number One and only Son of God who is our bridge to Heaven lasts for an eternity.  May the Lord lead you and me in His Way and understanding.  This is a lifetime pursuit that leads us into eternity with Jesus.May the Lord lead your hearts into a full understanding and expression of the love of God and the patient endurance that comes from Christ.  2 Thessalonians 3:5
