September 5, 2019 – Psalm 16:1-3
Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge. I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.” As for the saints in the land, they are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight. Psalm 16:1-3.
King David prayed for safety from God. He recognized where and with Whom he would find safety. Although David was the King of all His people, yet He knew that he was nothing good without the Lord God.
What is your criteria for choosing friends? How do you know you can depend on them? It is is a delight to have friends who trust in God. David delighted in such friends.
Remember the song, “He’s got the whole world in His Hands?” When we choose our Lord God and His Son Jesus, He holds our lives in His Hands. Our inheritance is sure and beautiful. What we receive is worth more than fine gold; it is not of this world.
We can deny God or set Him first in our lives. When He is our chosen Guide and Teacher, He will be at my right hand. Sing with praises to Him who is worthy.
I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His Name together! Psalm 34:1-3.
The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot. The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance. I bless the Lord who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me. I have set the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. Psalm 16:5-8.
