September 20, 2017 – Job 9:4-5
Job 9:4-5 – For God is so wise and so mighty. Who has ever challenged him successfully? “Without warning, He moves the mountains, overturning them in His anger.”
God is great. His command is law. His Majesty is beyond the tallest mountain and the highest star. There is no end to his strength and power. He shakes our earth He created and whips the seas into a frenetic dance in the wind. The Sun and the Moon proclaim His praise and the stars in the skies proclaim His Name with a Praise all their own.
Yet Man, in all his blindness, continues to create false doctrines to live by. Elijah learned to hear the voice of God in I Kings 19:11-13. Go stand before Me on the mountain. As the Lord passed by, a mighty windstorm hit. A terrible blast came and rocks were torn loose in the wind. After the wind came an earthquake, and then a fire. Then came a whisper… What are you doing here, Elijah? The Lord God came in a whisper.
God’s power extends beyond all we know or will ever understand. He changes our hearts. He provides our needs. He loves us and gives us Grace through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ. We know how much God loves us, and we put our trust in his love.
God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world. I John 4:16-17
Job 9:6-7 – “He shakes the earth from its place, and its foundations tremble. If he commands it, the sun won’t rise and the stars won’t shine.”
