September 19, 2016 – 2 Timothy 3:1-2

2timothy3-1-2You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. 2 Timothy 3:1-2As I read these words and gaze at the world around me, I see the signs of difficult times all around me.  Misplaced love, those who laugh at God and create their own version of a deity with its own beliefs are all around me.  It begins with the children and how they were taught.  The third verse continues with a descriptive titles for the disobedient.  How easy it is to be enticed to follow what the world is and not give the ‘last days’ another thought.Apostle Paul is speaking to a young Christian man, Timothy. Paul teaches him, giving him an opportunity to serve by teaching what he was taught.  Timothy’s Grandmother and Mother taught him the Holy Scriptures from childhood.  What a legacy to pass on – to children and grandchildren. Through the scriptures of God we learn truth and realize how our faith becomes stronger.  It shows us the error of our ways, and teaches us how to do what is right. When the ‘last days’ come to the end, we will not weep or grind our teeth – for we are the children of God and are gathered to live with Him eternally.  Heaven is where the weather is always filled with love, joy, and peace.  There is no cheating, stealing or death, nor tears in Heaven.  We will find joy in learning to fully know God and His Son Jesus Christ.  Angels will teach us anthems of joy.Revelation 22:20 – He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen.  Come, Lord Jesus! You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 2 Timothy 3:15-16
