October 5, 2015, John 7:38-39

John7-38-39On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’” John 7:38-39And so it is.  Those who drink deeply of the Word of Truth that comes from God Himself become filled to overflowing.  Their speech, their behavior, their attitude, their love for others becomes like a river….flowing from their heart.  Who do they follow?  Jesus, the Son of the Living God.The joy in their lives comes not from worldly pleasures but from pleasing and obeying the Lord God Himself!  These followers of Jesus become the salt and light that shows the way to Jesus…in all His Glory.Who sent Jesus to us?  The Lord God Jehovah, Himself, The One True God.  People proclaim many men as gods.  Yet these men were born of flesh, lived sinful lives,  died and were not raised from the dead to again walk on this earth.  Their identity was not proclaimed from God Himself…This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. (Matthew 3:17)For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16  Jesus passes the test.  If we do God’s will, we will know that the teachings of Jesus comes from Him. King David knew how to tell us of the value of God’s Words in Psalm 119:103 – How sweet your words taste to me; they are sweeter than honey. So Jesus told them, “My message is not my own; it comes from God who sent me. Anyone who wants to do the will of God will know whether my teaching is from God or is merely my own. John 7:16-17
