Mary, Did You Know?

Mary, did you know that your Baby Boy would
one day walk on water?
Mary, did you know that your Baby Boy would save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your Baby Boy has come to make you new?
This Child that you delivered will soon deliver you.
This song burst from the pen of Mark
Lowry, born June 24, 1958, in Houston TX.
Mark Lowry wrote a series of questions telling the gospel story in
response to a request for writing a song for The Living Christmas Tree by Jerry
Falwell in 1874. He wrote the speaking parts, and began to wonder, What is it, Mary knew?
The angel Gabriel visited Mary with the
announcement she would be favored by God, and bear a son, named Jesus. Mary
didn’t understand as she was a virgin. Yet her response was in faith, Luke 1:38
says, “I am the Lord’s servant. May
everything you have said about me come true.
After the birth, and the shepherds had
come to worship Jesus, Luke 2:18-19.
And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the
shepherds.
But Mary kept all these things
and pondered them in
her heart
.
Every mother looks deeply into the face
of her baby, wondering…what will my child be, experience, and encounter during
his life.  Once a mother, always a
mother.  No mother knows the blessings her
child would bring or how the hurts this child would experience will also pierce
her.
The lyrics of Mary, Did You Know, your baby is the Lord of all creation? Did you
know your sweet baby would be rejected, whipped and finally die on the cross, crowned
with thorns, for every man, woman, and child in every generation? “
For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are
lost.” Luke 19:10.

         Mary, did you
know your baby boy would be victorious over death and sin?  Mary, how you must have suffered through the
pain your Son endured. Mary, did you know your baby, once in your womb, would
one day rule all nations?
         Mary had three
qualities precious to our Lord God.
·      Listen and
ponder the words God sends (Luke 1:28-29).
·      Making herself
available to God’s leading. (Luke 1:34-37).
·      Enduring belief
and faith in God.
These three qualities are always
found in someone who walks and talks daily with God, and is used by Him for His
purposes on earth. These qualities show humility before God and man.
Matthew 5:5 – God bless those who are humble, for they
will inherit the whole earth.
         Matthew 11:29 –
Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you,
because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
         Ephesians 4:2 –
Always be humble and gentle. Be patient
with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.
         Philippians 2:7-11
Instead, He gave up His divine privileges;
He took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When He
appeared in human form, He humbled himself in obedience to God and died a
criminal’s death on a cross.
Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the
name above all other names,
that at the
name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the
earth,
 and every tongue declare that
Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

James 4:10 – Humble yourselves before the Lord and He
will lift you up in honor.
