March 16, 2020 – John 13:34

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. John 13:34.

What is it that shines sparkles more than a  diamond in the sunshine?  It is loving others as Jesus loves us!

How is it possible to love one another? How often I come back to this list of ways to love that is only possible through the Holy Spirit.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.  And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.  Galatians 5:22-25.

You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by his works;  and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”—and he was called a friend of God.  You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.  James 2:22-24.

Loving others can only come through believing, choosing to live through loving and serving others in the name of Jesus, the Son of God.  A commandment is given, not a suggestion. When we obey the commandment to love, it shows in the way we respond to the commandment each moment of our lives.

Have you ever wondered  why the first three  fruit of the spirit are LOVE, JOY, PEACE?  These three come only from our Lord God. Without Him, there is no Love, no Joy, and no Peace in our hearts or  in the world He created.

“By this, all people will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another.” John 13.35
