January 17, 2018 – Hebrews 10:23-24

Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. Hebrews 10:23-24.

Down-sizing possessions in 2012 was a spiritual eye-opener. Things, treasured things with sentimental links to the past were given away.  I began to see that the furniture, books, bits of china I kept, were more important because they had spiritual memories.  Why?

As I read these verses, I realize that things of earth are of passing value.  The items I kept are ‘helps’ in remembering  my hope is in God, Who is faithful and keeps His promises to me.  Yet, not me alone.

Always mindful of others, with an active desire to motivate others.  Motivate to what? To acts of love and good works.  When we live just for ourselves, we shut God out, and more than that, we shut out all Hope in life. Can you imagine a place where no one thinks of themselves, but they are concerned about others?

There is no way to motivate others and encourage them, except when we meet together, as ONE in Jesus to worship Him! So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. John 13:34.   Lord, there is no one like you! For you are great, and your name is full of power.  Jeremiah 10:6.

I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take away your crown.  Revelation 3:11.

And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. Hebrews 10:25
