January 1, 2018 – 2 Peter 1:3
By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. 2 Peter 1:3.
Every time we take a trip, we pack food, water, extra clothes, plan where to sleep, check our transportation, and make sure the GPS is working. Then we read about the extended forty mile journey of the Israelites in the Wilderness. Yes, he humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna, a food previously unknown to you and your ancestors. He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. For all these forty years your clothes didn’t wear out, and your feet didn’t blister or swell. Deuteronomy 8:3-4.
When we begin this life’s journey, there are books, culture moires, and ‘have to’s’ to make life for a child have the best life. What a surprise to learn that some people are successful without a college degree.
How do we define being Successful? If the fame and fortune of the world is our goal, then you won’t need to read further. However, if our goal is living a godly life. Pursue God, for he has great and precious promises to escape the world’s corruption. The list in the graphic is the beginning. The following verses contains the fruit of godly living.
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Galatians 5:22-23.
Make the new year of 2018, about sharing Jesus and His great love! Have a Blessed New Year, in our Lord God.
And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires. 2 Peter 1:4.
