December 16, 2019 – John 14:12-14
“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do, and greater works than these will he do because I am going to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it. John 14:12-14.
What does it take to believe in Jesus? How often do we consider ourselves to have an invincible spirit? The “I can do it all by myself” attitude? It is when we listen to these words, we learn it is impossible to be the lone hero, “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you.” James 4:10.
When we plan what we will do today, tomorrow, or next year, we do not know what life will bring. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. James 4:15-16.
I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13. This is believing in the One who created us and gives us life. This is putting our trust, not in our own strength, but in the Glorious One Who created the Heavens, and lights our way with the moon and stars at night, and the sun by day! Praying in His Name, underscores our trust in Him.
Therefore God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name that is above every name!” Philippians 2:9.
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. You know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. John 14:15-17.
