December 16, 2015 – Psalm 57:9-11
I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples. I will sing praises to you among the nations. For your steadfast love is great to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! Let your glory be over all the earth! Psalm 57:9-11Thanks and Praise to the Lord God is the theme of the Psalms. King David was a man after God’s own heart. Why? He knew his salvation is in the hands of the Lord God he worshiped and adored. Yes, David sinned, just as we do. Yet he confessed his sin before God. He didn’t blame others. David did not try to hide his sins, he simply prayed for forgiveness and always adored his Father in Heaven. No matter what — David trusted the Lord God with his life. Why? The next two verses make it clear — The Word of the Lord is upright (true NLT). His work is done in faithfulness (truth NKJV). He loves righteousness (good) and justice (just). The earth is full of His steadfast (unfailing NLT) love. The Lord God had us in mind and loving us, as He created the earth where we live. The breathtaking colors can only come from Him. The intricacies of each tiny seed endowed with life bursting forth into a bountiful harvest and each baby that is born is the work of God’s plan. The glorious sunsets, the towering mountains that reach to God and the unceasing waves that crash against the shore, staying within bounds, is God’s work.As we see sunrise after sunrise dawning a new day, we take this for granted, this is God’s work. I have a card on my computer that reminds me, nothing is happenstance. Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23For the word of the Lord is upright, and all his work is done in faithfulness. He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord. Psalm 33:4-5
