April 8, 2015 – Romans 8:1

Romans8-1There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.  For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:1-2Unconditional love, anyone?  Loving someone without holding them to your standard is not unconditional.  We all fall off the pedestal with a loud bang — the pedestal we think we stand on as an example for all to see.  Setting ourselves up as the example contains a beginning of pride. Unconditional love is what Jesus has given us.  Forgiven because of his love.  That kind of deep love doesn’t keep record of wrongs with pronouncements and judgements. Jesus paid for our sins, not that we keep on sinning, but when Jesus is in our lives, we are forgiven. When we establish our own righteousness, we try to displace God.  He is irreplaceable…for there is only one God.  Christ is end of the law and the beginning of forgiven sin.  When we truly accept Him, all our pride vanishes and humility takes its place. Our relationship with Jesus is an individual thing.  No one else can make or break the relationship with Jesus — just us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,  nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39For, being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.   For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. Romans 19:3-4
